What's in Bloom? September 2025

The daffodils, jonquils and snowdrops have faded, but there is so much in bloom at the moment. One of my favourite trees in the whole yard is looking spectacular at the moment. The weeping Ornamental Cherry  Prunus Subhirtella Pendula ‘Alba’. I'm so glad I planted this front and centre and fully visible from the patio. Our Nashi Pear ' Shunsui' also has beautiful cherry blossom style flowers. We only bought a Nashi to pollinate our Packham Pear. Both fruited last year . And Nashi's brother, our Packham Pear. I recently moved this cherry 'Prunus spp ' (for the second time). It was here when we moved in but looking quite sad. I nursed it back to life however had never flowered before now so I'm very excited to see it it fruits this year. I'm having success with my meadow/no mow this year after a disaster last year. It's full of bees, ladybugs and flowers. I think the orange ones are a type of calendula, they come back en masse every year. I will never...

My First post. An Introduction To Me and My Garden.

I'm Berz. I live in the Derwent Valley, Tasmania. I am obsessed with my garden. Taken at Bushy Park looking towards our place over the Hops Fields My partner, Gudge, our wonderful cat, Percy and I bought our house in 2020 and in that time I have developed such a love of gardening and developing our 1030sqm block. I have another blog, Beck's Modern Life  which I have been writing for 13 years and I adore writing that blog so I thought to myself, why not document my gardening journey in a new blog?  How it started: Photo's from when we brought the property. And as it winter 2025. I have divided the garden into areas including, The Mediterranean Garden The Pond Area and Cherry Tree Garden Fire Pit Garden The Meadow  The Hardy Tropical Area, which is probably my favourite.
